About Us

Our Purpose

The National Entrepreneurship Development Company Limited (NEDCO) was established in August 2002 as a Limited Liability State-Owned Organization mandated to be the implementing agency for Government’s policy on small and micro enterprise development.

Why Choose Us?

NEDCO has encouraged entrepreneurs to start small businesses that make the most of indigenous resources and native talents in non-traditional areas.  These businesses have the potential to contribute to value added activities in the SME value chain and have high export potential as branded Caribbean heritage products.

Government’s Vision for the SME Sector

The People’s Partnership Government has identified seven (7) interconnected pillars for sustainable development. These are:

PILLAR 1:   People-Centred Development – “We need everyone and all can contribute”

PILLAR 2:   Poverty Eradication and Social Justice – “Preference for Poor and Disadvantaged”

   □ PILLAR 3:   National and Personal Security “Human Security for Peace and Prosperity”

   □ PILLAR 4:   Information and Communication “Technologies – Connecting T&T and the New Economy”

   □ PILLAR 5:   A More Diversified, Knowledge Intensive Economy “Building on the Native Genius of Our People”

   □ PILLAR 6:   Good Governance – “People Participation”

   □ PILLAR 7:   Foreign Policy – “Securing our Place in the World”

“People-Centred Development” and the creation of “A More Diversified, Knowledge Intensive Economy” are aligned to the Government’s vision for the Trinidad and Tobago’s micro and small enterprise (MSE) sector. Based on this alignment, the sector will be fast-growing, well-structured, vibrant and innovative and would:

  • Contribute significantly to the national economy and national development, as well as to the viability and cohesion of communities.

  • Serve as a main catalyst in the reduction of unemployment and poverty and in the production of sustainable employment and wealth.

  • Underpin and enhance national competitiveness.

Against this background NEDCO eagerly embraces the opportunity to contribute to the development and transformation of the economy and improve the quality of life while creating an enabling and facilitating environment for MSE development.
